Understrength team goes under to Killester United

Due to holidays and competing sports, we were missing many of our key players for our trip to Killester. In fact we had to start the match with one players short until Emma's little sister Orla Boyle arrived to help out with the goalkeeping duties.

The team put in several great performances. Emma Boyle and Dearbhla Monaghan made several strong attacks and rattled the post on 2 occasions, but Emma's sister Orla was kept even busier at the other end of the pitch. Despite great performances by defenders Lucy Hanlon and player-of-the-match Fiona Fitzgerald, Killester managed to score 2 goals in each half.

Hopefully we will be back up to full strength for next week.

  1. Despite losing to Killester, this was a very spirited disply by an understrength team - the girls gave 110% and if they had a full team would have made it extremely difficult for the opposition.

  2. Great display by the girls. They were very unlucky not to score a couple of goals themselves. Orla was brilliant in goals even though she is only 8. Some of the Killester girls looked a lot older than 12...

  3. I agree that this was a great display by the team who played on the day. We were very unlucky not to score at least one goal from all the atttacking we did.

Orla also was great in goal considering her age. She was quite nervous when she started, but once she settled in to the game she did great.

Killester would have been a tough team to play even if we had our full strength panel available.
